Anti-war demonstrations will take place around the world on Saturday, 10 October, in solidarity with the Palestinian people. Three years after the beginning of the genocide in Gaza, the slaughter—and the resistance—continue and are spreading to the West Bank, Lebanon and Iran.

The picture at the UN General Assembly in recent days was characteristic. Netanyahu, the head of a pariah state, stood defiantly at the podium, hurling insults at those who walked out of the chamber. Trump threatened to wipe out Iran, while Mitsotakis appeared as the slaughterers’ closest ally.

But the real strength was outside, among the tens of thousands who surrounded the UN building in New York, demonstrating under the slogan “No to War – No to ICE – Freedom for Palestine.”

That strength is preparing to take to the streets again on 10 October, in a day of internationally coordinated mobilisations. The international coordination established at the anti-war conference in London in June, with the participation of dozens of organisations, trade unions and collectives from around the world, laid the foundations for a global day of uprising that will give even greater impetus to an anti-war movement capable of putting an end to the atrocities of the imperialists.

“We need to make noise for Palestine. We need to shout loudly. We need to be visible. And we need to act together. Palestine needs the world to keep watching and speaking out. But much more than that, Palestine needs the world to keep taking action,” the international call states. “That is why we are calling for a global day of action for Palestine on 10 October and throughout that weekend. We know that every country, organisation and community has its own reality. What matters is that we all do something together, at the same time, across the world. If thousands of people, organisations and communities act together, our voices will become much harder to ignore. So, on 10 October and that weekend, wherever you are, do something for Palestine. Make noise, take action, keep Palestine at the forefront.”

In Greece, the campaign to organise 10 October has got off to a strong start. On Sunday, 20 September, dozens of activists from workers’ unions, migrant communities, student associations and left-wing organisations responded to the call by the Stop the War – Solidarity with Palestine Alliance for a meeting to organise the Global Day of Anti-War Action. In the days that followed, calls for demonstrations in each city began to be finalised, the resolution began making its way through the procedures of trade unions and organisations, and the poster and leaflet began spreading the message to every neighbourhood, university and workplace.

According to the British Stop the War Coalition, by the time these lines were written, mobilisations had been announced in cities in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Croatia, Denmark, Britain, Ecuador, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Mexico, the United States, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Peru, New Zealand, Spain and South Africa.

The fact that the media remain silent does not mean that the genocide has stopped. If you want to live in a world where a child flying a kite is considered an act of war, where families are targeted every day, the media say nothing and those who raise their voices are targeted, then do nothing.

On 10 October, do whatever you can to turn attention towards Palestine once again. Because Palestine is connected to all our struggles.

If you live in an area where you cannot demonstrate, that is not an excuse. There is still so much you can do, whether by posting, talking to people, promoting more boycotts, signing petitions, or strengthening and joining the organisations taking action.

We have no excuse to remain silent about what is happening right now. The situation is becoming increasingly dangerous, and if they are capable of doing this to a Palestinian child, they are capable of doing it to all our children.

Rahma Zein,
Egyptian journalist and activist

Comrades and friends, I send you revolutionary greetings from my beloved country, South Africa.

I am making a direct appeal to every civil society organisation, trade union, student movement and community network in every country: On Saturday, 10 October, we will coordinate globally for Palestine. We will take to the streets and demand meaningful accountability from the occupying state. We will take collective action on a global scale to turn the world’s attention back to the issue of Palestine.

Make no mistake: this is not limited only to the devastating genocide being perpetrated by Israel in Gaza. State-backed settler violence and systematic land seizures throughout the West Bank reveal a single, relentless campaign to eliminate Palestinian life. After more than 1,100 days of destruction, empty international statements and false promises are unacceptable. We are not asking for justice. We demand uncompromising political action, an immediate arms embargo, targeted sanctions and full accountability through BDS. Comrades and friends, I call on every movement, every leader and every community to respond to this call. From 9 to 11 October, move from words to action.

Mobilise your people, organise your local demonstrations and take part in this global day of action. Stand with us, take to the streets and turn our collective determination into an unstoppable force for justice. Thank you.

Nkosi Zweilvelile Mandela,
Nelson Mandela’s grandson and activist with solidarity missions to Gaza, South Africa

Palestine needs us to continue showing up. The genocide in Gaza is not over. There is no ceasefire as long as Israel continues to massacre and starve Palestinians in Gaza.

At the same time, throughout the West Bank, Israeli settler violence is terrorising Palestinian communities and driving them from their land. Israel has exported its terror to Lebanon, where it is bombing civilians and flattening entire villages. We cannot remain silent or look away while genocide and other crimes against humanity are being committed before our eyes.

And we cannot allow others to look away. On 10 October, we call on people around the world to rise up for Palestine. Demonstrate, gather, organise, hold sit-ins, protest, create, make your voices heard.

Whatever action you can take, take it. Three years of a genocide broadcast live, and more than eight decades of colonial violence and settler displacement, have passed. But we must not allow ourselves to become tired or despair.

Palestinians are relying on us, and history will judge us. So, on 10 October, let us make our voices impossible to ignore. Together, around the world, for Palestine.

Huwaida Arraf,
Palestinian-American lawyer and activist, International Solidarity Movement, Michigan, USA

Over the weekend of 9–11 October, people around the world will take to the streets to say: “Enough of the genocide in Gaza, enough of pretending there is a ceasefire while Palestinians are being killed, displaced and starved every day.” And this is not happening only in Gaza.

In the West Bank, state-backed settler violence, land theft and forced displacement are rampant. This is a campaign aimed at eliminating Palestinian life and taking their land. We must also demand an end to the war in Iran.

So, after three years of slaughter and empty promises, we need real action. An immediate arms embargo, boycotts, divestment and sanctions, as well as an end to our governments’ complicity. That is why, from 9 to 11 October, take to the streets, join actions, organise a mobilisation, bring your friends along, break the silence of the media and the political establishment.

Turn anger into global pressure. No more genocide, no more occupation, no more war, freedom for Palestine.

Medea Benjamin,
Code Pink, USA

Three years have passed since Israel began its genocidal war in Gaza. Three years, 1,100 days of relentless bombardment that is still continuing. The genocidal war has killed and wounded at least 250,000 Palestinians. 22,000 children have been killed in this horrific genocide. In the West Bank, Palestinians are subjected to terrible and continuous harassment and oppression, arrests and killings, not only by the Israeli army but also by terrorist settlers backed by the Israeli army, who continue to attack Palestinians everywhere.

We are facing a terrible conspiracy on the part of Israel, which is attempting not only to impose genocide but also the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in both Gaza and the West Bank. They are trying to drive us from our homeland, from Palestine. They will not succeed, because we are steadfast.

Today, however, we call on all of you around the world to rise up and show your solidarity by taking part in the global coordinated actions that will take place between 9 and 11 October against genocide, against ethnic cleansing, against oppression, against injustice. Anyone who believes in human rights or international law must rise up and support our struggle for freedom.

You played a crucial role in the past in bringing down the horrific apartheid system in South Africa. Now it is your turn to dismantle the system—not only apartheid, occupation, oppression, ethnic cleansing and genocide, but also to support the right of the Palestinian people to finally free themselves from this entire system of colonial settlement. Please rise up and join the mobilisations, to support humanity, to support justice and to protest against the horrific genocide.

Mustafa Barghouti,
Palestinian doctor, Secretary-General of the Palestinian National Initiative

1,100 days. That is how long the genocide perpetrated by Israel in Gaza has lasted. More than three years of bombardment, famine and slaughter, while governments around the world issue statements and do nothing. And it is not happening only in Gaza.

In the West Bank, right now, state-backed settlers are burning villages, seizing land and terrorising families with full military protection. This is a campaign with one goal: the elimination of Palestinian life, of Palestine itself. We have no more time for excuses and empty resolutions.

We need an arms embargo. We need boycotts, divestment and sanctions with real force. We need political consequences that genuinely hurt.

On the weekend of 10 and 11 October, people in every corner of the world are rising up. The Global Alliance for Palestine is calling for a unified global day of action. Rallies, marches, actions to break complicity and media silence.

We must bring Palestine back to the centre of public attention. So here is what I want you to do. Find your local solidarity collective. If you do not know where they are, search online and on social media, ask around. They exist. And they are waiting for you and need you.

Join them in the streets. If you are organising an action, publicise your mobilisations so that people can see the scale of what we are building. Three years of anger are not enough if they remain only on your social media.

Turn it into real pressure. Turn it into numbers on the ground that no government can ignore. Be there on 10 October. Bring everyone. And remember, my friends, from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.

A strong anti-war movement

This October marks three years since the beginning of the Israeli attacks and the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. Despite flattening almost all infrastructure and homes in Gaza, despite the tens of thousands of civilian deaths and the hundreds of thousands of refugees it has displaced, the state of Israel continues the ethnic cleansing and genocide of Palestinians in the West Bank as well.

On Saturday, 10 October, we will take part in the Global Day of Action and Solidarity with the Palestinian People. We will join our voices with the millions who will be demonstrating around the world that day, as three years have passed since the beginning of Israel’s genocidal assault on Gaza.

We dockworkers stand on the front line of the struggle for peace and against the use of our ports to transport military equipment to Israel, contributing to the extermination of Palestinians. We demand “jobs, not bombs,” wage increases and hiring, not spending on military equipment. It is outrageous that the Greek government is spending more than €3 billion to create the “Achilles Shield” in cooperation with Israel, while implementing austerity policies, standing idly by as prices soar, and dismantling and privatising public services that we workers need.

We demand:
• An end to the Israeli occupation of Palestine, an end to the genocide/ethnic cleansing in Gaza and the West Bank
• Respect for international law and the decisions of the International Court of Justice
• No cooperation by our country with the Zionist terrorist state and no involvement in the wars of the United States and Israel.

We call on workers and their trade unions to support the anti-war rally in solidarity with Palestine on Saturday, 10 October, at 2 pm at Eleftherias Park, followed by a march to the Israeli Embassy.

OLP Dockworkers’ Union

On Saturday, 10 October, at 12 noon in Agoras Square, we will take part in the Global Day of Anti-War Action and join our voices with the millions who will be demonstrating around the world that day, as three years have passed since the beginning of Israel’s genocidal assault on Gaza.

We demand:

• Freedom for Palestine, no to occupation; end the genocide/ethnic cleansing in Gaza and the West Bank.

• No cooperation with the Zionist terrorist state, no involvement by Greece in the wars of the United States and Israel.

• “Jobs, not bombs,” wage increases and hiring, not spending on military equipment.

It is outrageous that the Greek government, acting as the “rear base” for the attacks by Trump and Netanyahu, is spending more than €3 billion to create the “Achilles Shield” in cooperation with Israel, while cutting wages and pensions and dismantling through cuts and privatisation the public services that we workers need.

We call on workers and their trade unions to support the anti-war rally in solidarity with Palestine on Saturday, 10 October, at 12 noon in Agoras Square.
